WhatsApp’s beta version of its Android messaging app has introduced a range of new features.
WhatsApp is working on a new Catalog shortcut and call button for business chats, as well as WhatsApp doodles for chat wallpapers, according to a post from WABetaInfo.
The Catalog shortcut is a fast shortcut inside business chats which allows customers to easily access the products of a company through a dedicated icon.
WhatsApp is also working on a new business chat call button that incorporates the previously available voice and video call shortcuts from the chat screen.
When pressing this button, the user will be able to switch between voice and video calls.
WABetaInfo hypothesized that, once introduced, this feature could roll out to user chats in the future.
WhatsApp is also working on an Add WhatsApp Doodles feature that allows you to customize fading sticker outlines for chat wallpapers.
This option is available as a toggle under the menu Settings for Wallpaper.
“The Signals of Terror”
Recently WABetaInfo recorded a number of dangerous messages circulating on WhatsApp that will cause your application to freeze or crash when displayed.
These messages, named “scary letters” by WABetaInfo, contain a number of odd characters that do not seem to make sense.
They trigger WhatsApp to either misunderstand the message, or leave it unable to fully make the message.
This leads to an endless crash that can only be resolved by reinstalling the program.
WABetaInfo recommends that you set your group privacy settings to “My Contacts” so unknown contacts won’t be able to add you to those crash coded classes.
