Black Coffee, whose real name is Nkosinathi Innocent Maphumulo, has been one of the best disk jockeys in the SA music industry, specializing mainly in house and classical music, as well as a perfect songwriter. He started his music journey around 1994 and released five albums when it was just a DVD player to play music. The hit maker keeps getting better and better with his recent recognition of Tomorrow Land in 2018 as well as in 2019. He also appeared on the Guinness world record after his portrait was used as a floor decoration for a major event.
His mini album project “Music Is King EP” will be followed by Subconsciously Album, which had 6 tracks and each topped many local charts to date, particularly his “Any Other Way” track featuring Karyendasoul and vocalist Zhao. This 2021 album will mark its first mega-project in almost three years, and it’s worth the wait, as it has been certified as the most streamed project despite being still on the pre-order stage.
Black Coffee’s Subconsciously Album will start with “Lost” alongside vocalist Jinadu, who will be the intro to the project, followed by his killer love track with Maxine Ashley and Sun-El Musician, titled “You Need Me,” which will be used by many as their Valentines song this year. The hit maker did not stop there, as he went far to drop “SBCNCSLY” where he connected with American songstress Sabrina Claudio, who with her recently released “Christmas blues Album” is currently breaking many records.
Black Coffee didn’t stop there, as he also decided to travel to the love lands with RY X on their hit track “I’m Fallin” which had been awarded multiple gold status at the time of the post, leading to his collaborations with singer Cassie as they checked the perfect “Time.”
The iconic disk jockey didn’t stop there, as he further mastered his name as the best in the industry by interacting with the multi-award winning American singer and dancer Usher as they both went on a loggerhead on “LaLaLa” is currently one of the most played tracks on almost every radio station in the world last year.
The Subconsciously Album would then end up with “Never Gonna Forget” where he linked up with Diplo and Elderbrook, but before that he wanted to give Jozzy and Pharrell Williams “10 Missed Calls” before talking to Msaki and Celeste on “Wish You Were Here” and “Ready For You” respectively. The project will also house his all-time best track “Drive” where he cleared the air with American DJ David Guetta and British songwriter Delilah Montagu.
